Peter Dale Scott

 

Peter Dale Scott is a poet, writer, and researcher. Formerly he was a Canadian diplomat (1957-61, serving at UN General Assemblies and then Warsaw), and later (1966-94) English Professor at the University of California, Berkeley. His most recent poetry book is Mosaic Orpheus (2009). Earlier poetry books include the three volumes of his trilogy Seculum: Coming to Jakarta (1989), Listening to the Candle (1992), and Minding the Darkness (2000) In addition he has published Crossing Borders: Selected Shorter Poems (1994). In November 2002 he was awarded the Lannan Poetry Award.

 

His chief prose books include Cocaine Politics (in collaboration, 1991, 1998), Deep Politics and the Death of JFK (1993, 1996), Drugs Oil and War (2003), and The Road to 9/11: Wealth, Empire, and the Future of America, (2007).

 

An anti-war speaker during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars, he was a co-founder of the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at UC Berkeley, and of the Coalition on Political Assassinations (COPA). His website is http://www.peterdalescott.net
